Boudoir vs. Lingerie Photography: Which Session Fits?
OUTDOORS. PRIVATE SITTING ROOM. SEXY PHOTOS.
What's the Real Difference Between Boudoir Photography and Lingerie Photography?
Lingerie photography is versatile and can be captured just about anywhere—from studios and outdoor settings to urban backdrops. The focus is often on showcasing the lingerie itself in a stylish, editorial, or fashion-forward way.
Boudoir photography, on the other hand, is rooted in intimacy and privacy. Traditionally, it takes place indoors—most often in a bedroom or a private, cozy space. The word "boudoir" itself comes from the French term for a woman's private dressing room or bedroom, and that sense of personal space is central to its meaning.
In modern American culture, boudoir photography has evolved and expanded beyond its original definition. It's not uncommon to see outdoor boudoir sessions, but purists believe the true essence of boudoir lies in the quiet, sensual privacy of an indoor setting.

How We Organize Our Photography Galleries
For Aaron Wilson Photography, we keep our portfolio categories simple: Boudoir highlights bedroom, private-room and studio portraits, while Lingerie highlights outdoor and non-room editorial portraits. This helps you browse our work; it isn't a universal rule about where either kind of photography can take place.
Pin-Up Photography: Vintage Style
Love retro clothing, playful posing, classic cars, colorful diners and nostalgic details? Pin-Up Photography is a separate style, with its own wardrobe and visual mood. Pin-up sessions can take place in a variety of settings.
